When Fashion Foie Gras and I skipped town two weekends ago, our primary destination (apart from YSL) was to check in so as to check out the Hotel de la Trémoille, a four star luxury boutique hotel, situated just off the City of Lights' famous Golden Triangle (time to lock the credit card in the safe!!). Upon arrival, we were greeted by a particularly friendly hotel staff who showed us up to our enormous rooms, complete with petit French balconies, gigantic and super fluffy beds and a fully stocked mini bar. The hotel room was so comfortable, that upon arrival, FFG and I decided to rest up in our delicious temporary havens before hitting the rainy streets of Paris. Slipping into the boat-sized tub, a long, hot bath followed by swaddling myself in the oversized terry cloth robe, I feared I may not see any of Paris beyond the boundaries of la Trémoille...
However, eventually, we managed to regroup and head out to explore and enjoy the city. And upon returning, we were pleasantly greeted by a selection of macarons at the bed's end post turn-down service. Delightful.
A sound night's sleep and sampling of the hotel's continental breakfast later, we found our four star weekend rapidly coming to an end. All in all, la Trémoille is an ideal hotel for those visiting Paris who wish to explore all the Right Bank has to offer--it's location is super central and unbeatable, and the large rooms make this a great place for families or friends traveling in two's or even three's to park their rears.
I'd also recommend this hotel to would be fashion weekers, as it's literally a stone's through from where the majority of the action goes down. Again, the unusually massive size of the rooms for a Parisian hotel means that the room would be great to double as work & sleep space (not to mention there's FREE and relatively FAST wifi in all the rooms).
The one caution to editors, stylists and others purporting to cross the Channel in the name of fashion week work, the combination of fluffy bed and deep tub may mean you opt to cozy up all day in the hotel rather than hitting the shows as you ought...ohhhhh c'est la vie!
About Hotel de la Tremoille
Set amid the Golden Triangle – bordered by Avenue George V, Avenue Montaigne and Avenue des Champs-Elysees and known for its jewelry and high fashion – the Hotel de la Tremoille is set off on a discreet side street. While surrounded by some of the priciest hotels and toniest streets in Paris, La Tremoille offers a little (not a lot, but a little) more of a bargain in terms of price – plus cocktails and jazz at its hip bar and restaurant, Louis 2 (in honor of Louis Armstrong).
